Shirley Kirsten Smith:

A piano student at Merrywood, Shirley graduated from NYC HS of the Performing Arts in 1964
and continued on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Oberlin
University in 1968. She received her Masters in Music Therapy from NYU in 1972. She has
been teaching piano for decades and currently works as an international online piano teacher.
She has a You Tube channel (http://www.youtube.com/arioso7) with 19,600 subscribers and
also started writing a piano blog in 2011 “Journal of a Piano Teacher from New York to
California” (http://www.arioso7.wordpress.com). One of her blogs described the closure of

written numerous articles about music therapy and piano pedagogy.
