Adria Benjamin:

A viola teacher and conductor at Merrywood, Adria has been a longtime member of Orchestra Lumos’s viola section and serves as the orchestra’s personnel manager.  She has worked at the Mannes College Preparatory Division teaching viola, chamber music, and conducting the orchestra.

Joana Miranda:

A violin student at Merrywood, Joana is currently a Chamber Coach as well as a freelance violin and viola player.  She has played with the New York City Ballet, the New Jersey Symphony, New York Pops, New York City Opera, the American Ballet Theatre, and as a substitute violinist in the Broadway show Wicked.  She was a member of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra from 2000-2010.  She is also a freelance illustrator and cartoonist (joanamirandastudio.com) with numerous publications to her credit.  Best of all, she is married to Merrywood piano teacher Andrews Sill!

Shanty Serdy:

A violin student at Merrywood, she played in the Yale Symphony while in college.  She is now a physician living in Massachusetts.

Barbara Crouse Vaughan:

A violin teacher at Merrywood, Barbara currently plays both the violin and viola.  She performs with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and with Hop River Chamber Music.  She previously taught violin in the Mansfield Public Schools and violin/viola at Eastern CT State University.  Enjoying travel abroad, she resides in CT.
